under the summer sun
workshops & summer series to anchor you
hello dear readers,
theres so much going on, so many things to do and tend and feel. so much to learn and reflect on and connect over. how are you staying rooted?
what plans are you putting in place to stay anchored in your values, your body and your lineages this summer?
now is the time to feel for what you might need, in order to continue to tend your communities and also not shirk away from the work being asked of us in this time.
we need each other. we need the land. especially in the summer frenzy - we cannot make it on our own.
to that end, i’m offering a few different spaces for community connection this summer, nourishing our bodies & spirits and anchoring in ancestral lineage. i know times are tough financially, (yikes!) so they are offered at a lower price point and with wide sliding scales.
two series - one on ancestral plants for community resilience under state violence, the other ritual somatics exploring how white supremacy lives in our bones through a creative ancestral framework.
& two workshops, one a community popup for tending our bodies in this time of increased tension, and one a fundraiser for Gaza on the liberatory wisdom of plants on interdependence and solidarity (yes, mutual aid is still so so essential as the extreme violence continues).
scroll down for all the details. sign up for one, sign up for all, or for none as it serves you.
i offer these in hopes that they may support our communities in tending our bodies & spirits, in reaching for our ancestral lineages, and in continuing to fight for justice under the summer sun.
the season ahead
Tension is holding me together: plant kin and simple practices for bodies of tension
I’m offering a popup session for tending our tension, touching on some plants and simple practices that support me. It is sliding scale, $10+, next week on Sunday June 7th via Zoom. In this recorded session, we will explore some ways to think about body tension with compassion & an open mind. We will feel for our own body’s holding, and the wisdom therein. We will talk about some plant kin & simple practices that offer support to the very powerful holding our bodies are doing.

work with me & stay connected
Hi, I’m rowan.
I’m a faciltator, herbalist, folklorist, writer, researcher and somatic bodyworker. I run two tiny businesses for queer healing, cultural reconnection & collective transformation.
of hawthorn and yew is the cauldron of my antiracist culture work. I facilitate offerings on politicized ancestral reconnection, Celtic Isles diasporic work, and reweaving anticolonial cultural herbalisms here on n america. together we connect to our european-descended ancestors, reweave culture lost from assimiliation into whiteness, and embody our values more deeply. I also offer 1:1 mentorship for folks ready to begin or deepen in ancestral reconnection work.
wild aliveness apothecary is the heart of my healing arts practice. seeking queercare? I see clients 1:1 as well as offer small group programs on herbalism, writing & somatics. gather in queer space, connect with plants, self, and community, and be held.
